3. Turn on your pilot light.
Some people turn off their pilot lights after winter ends in order to save money. While lit pilot lights are perfectly safe, some people find the idea of having a fire burning in their house year-round upsetting. If your furnace isn't working, check to make sure you remembered to restart your pilot light. Turn the knob to open the gas line and use a lighter or match to light your pilot light. If it won't light, then you may have a leak or blockage in your gas line. Call a heating repair service immediately to take a look at your furnace, since leaking or clogged gas lines can lead to fires or carbon monoxide poisoning.
